January 12, 2016 VARIETY: GEORGE CLOONEY AND JULIA ROBERTS IN ‘MONEY MONSTER’ TRAILER George Clooney becomes a hostage on network TV in the first trailer for TriStar Pictures’ “Money Monster.” Clooney is playing a glib investment guru with the TV show “Money Monster” who has to deal with a gun-toting investor — played by Jack O’Connell of “Unbroken” — after the investor takes a bath on a tech stock. Focus won an auction for the rights, topping several bidders including TriStar. William Morrow publishes the book next month. Focus prevailed in an auction that also had TriStar in hot pursuit. Deals are being closed for Ben Collins & Luke Piotrowski to write the script and for Dan Dubiecki’s Allegiance Theater to produce with Team Downey, the shingle run by Robert Downey Jr and Susan Downey.
